Royal International Air Tattoo 3, Fairford Airbase, Gloucester, England, July 21st 2013

From brand new to positively antique and everything in-between, the RIAT airshow has it all! This is potentially the last display season for Vulcan XH558 but moves are afoot to extend the flying life of this venerable old bird with a concerted effort to raise the £2-3 million required for modifications and associated costs - if successful then the Vulcan will continue on into the 2015 season.

Afternoon and the sun appears, heating the place up rather rapidly - yes, I need to dispense with a couple of layers of clothing. This of course brings a different problem for the enthusiastic photographer - heat haze, obscuring detail in those long shots.
